Open bookcase

An OPEN BOOKCASE in the central area of Vienna (district Neubau). This “cupboard” functions as a public exchange platform for books and in the meantime has been established in different locations in Vienna. 

Three orthogonally placed “beams” create an extensive ensemble. The goal was to create usable urban furniture beyond a simple “cupboard”- a temporary lounge and information space. Depending on the position, arrangement and direction, the beams, initially empty containers, are filled with functions, information and content.
